Why Do You Need to Resize Images?
Resizing an image means changing its physical dimensions (Width and Height) measured in pixels. This is crucial for several reasons:
- Social Media Requirements: Every platform has strict dimension requirements. An Instagram Square post needs to be 1080x1080px, while a YouTube Thumbnail requires 1280x720px. If you upload the wrong size, the platform will aggressively crop or stretch your image, ruining its quality.
- Profile Pictures (Avatars): Most websites require profile pictures to be perfectly square (e.g., 500x500px). Uploading a rectangular photo will result in a messy crop.
- Website Optimization: If you place an image in a 300px wide box on your blog, but you upload a 4000px wide original image, you are wasting massive amounts of bandwidth. You must resize the image to exactly 300px before uploading.
Maintaining Aspect Ratio
