What is Keyword Density?
Keyword Density is the percentage of times a specific keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on that page.
For example, if your article is 1,000 words long, and you use the phrase "digital marketing" 20 times, your keyword density for that phrase is 2%.
The Danger of Keyword Stuffing
In the early 2000s, SEO was easy: if you wanted to rank for "cheap flights," you just typed "cheap flights" 500 times at the bottom of your page.
Today, Google's algorithms are much smarter. If you artificially cram keywords into your content (a practice known as Keyword Stuffing), Google will instantly flag your site as spam, and your rankings will plummet. The text must read naturally to a human being.
The Ideal Keyword Density
While there is no "official" magic number from Google, most SEO experts agree that the ideal keyword density is between 1% and 2%. This is enough to tell search engines what the page is about without annoying the reader.
Our online Keyword Density Checker instantly analyzes your text and extracts the 1-word, 2-word, and 3-word phrases you use most frequently. It helps you identify if you are over-optimizing a certain word so you can replace it with synonyms (LSI keywords) before publishing.
